Having a pet

As all the days I was walking down the street, looking the people and thinking of what different thing might happen to me when suddenly I saw a little box lying on the floor, I looked it puzzled and scared because that box had movement; anyway I opened it. I remember the first thing that I feel inside of me, it was pain because I couldn't believe that some people don´t have good feelings for leaving three beautiful puppies on the street without a house and a family, so I took and carried them to my house. I was scared for the reaction of my parents but it was the best reaction ever, because they decided to be their owners and give them all the love that people without a good heart did not do. In most of our houses there is an special pet that make us laugh, enjoy and be beloved, the most common ones are cats and dogs. Sometimes these cute species help to appreciate life and feel a little company. Some of them are alone in the streets and feel that they don´t belong to any place. There are some people that hate this kind of animals and avoid touching or giving food to them, but people who love animals are so happy and proud of helping them. These living beings give us happy moments and a lot of love but every house pet has its own captivation.

Cats and dogs are the most popular home pets. All over the world is known that these animals occupy a space in houses or yards, depending of the tolerance of their owners for maintaining these pets inside or outside the house. People usually choose these beings, because they are more closely to children and some of them are not aggressive, so if you have children you can choose a cute and lovely cat or dog that make you feel secure of the caring of the kids but if you want a pet that look after your house the best choice is a dog like a rottweiler, but you must be sure of having a dog like this one, because it needs a lot of caring and space and rules to respect its owner and not be bitten by it.

Dogs are more interested in their owners than cats. In the everyday we can see dogs showing interest in making their owners laugh, giving their toys for playing a while and also demonstrating their loyalty because dogs are called the man´s friend instead of cats that are usually going out of the house and leave their owners worried , with that expression I mean that cats are more independents than dogs and for that their owners spend more time alone and without the whole love that cats might give them. The main problem of having a pet is how to educate it. The education of animals is important for all the families that have a pet in their houses because in this way the pet know what can and can not do. The main responsible of training and teaching the pet to behave is the owner or proprietor, as he is the principal person that must impose rules to the pet, on the contrary the pet will become in a disaster and a real problem.

Some proprietors tend to be permissive. Owners that are usually avoiding training a pet or that are not really interested in giving rules are called permissive owners. These people are sometimes unhappy with their pets because they are not what they expected and that causes familiar and psychological problems and also the pet suffers, as the owner is not a good one, and the pet start to perceive all the bad treats that permissive owners give to them because of owner`s anger, but there are others that tend to be permissive because they love so much their pets and hate to represent hardness to them, because they think that their pets will feel sad of their owner´s attitude.

People confuse the difference between love and impose rules. In most cases the love to the pets is an important and recurrent reason why people let their pets to behave as they want, because they feel that all their love for their pets is represented as a way of making the pet a member of the family and also treating it as a human, but rules are essentially in the education because pets are not able to behave by themselves in a correct way, they must be taught.

There is no authority in a submissive person. A person that do not have the skill and patient to educate a pet is not going to be a successful owner, consequently, the pet will not respect its owner nor family members, as a result some of these kind of proprietors will get annoyed of having a disrespectful pet and they will punish their pets, probably the relationship with them will be damaged after this episode, provoking distancing between the owner and the pet, sometimes the animal gets depressed.

Bad manners are a synonym of a misbehaved pet . Breeders that are not good guides and do not have a strong temper , increase the bad behaviour of the pet; therefore, these animals will never learn about having a good or correct conduct, because it becomes an habit since they do not have clear the place in the house and rules that they have to fulfill, as the bad behavior of a pet is responsibility of its owner and a pet to be happy needs to be a educated one.

As it was said house pets are the most special animals for people, because they are common in all the houses of the world and all you have to do is to love and to give them the place and the food that they need because they deserve the same treatment that human beings, as they are alive and have the same necessities of human beings and also you have to try to avoid being a permissive owner, for your pet will become in a disaster and you will be unhappy of having a pet that causes too many problems to your life. I hope that many people appreciate animal life, so that they will grow up as a person.

The theft of my brother´s car.

Nowadays the theft of cars is more common that we think, it can happen in any place where you are, or in any moment because the thieves take advantages of the opportunity that you are not paying attention and steal your things, as in this case, a car. The idea of thinking in that situation is horrible, but you have to be calm because if you are careful, the robbery of any thing can be avoided. As I told before, the theft of a car can happen in any place, and one example of this could be the robbery in a party because you are not paying attention to what is happening outside and in some cases you are too drunk to notice something. I have to tell that this situation happened some years ago to an important member of my family (my brother) in a party of his friend, and he was too drunk to notice something.

As a matter of fact, I know that is very difficult to bear the theft of something, but if one day this happen to a member of your family or even you, don´t be afraid, because if you loose the control of this situation you will never can find any solution. I have to say that when the car of my brother was stolen, my mother and I were always in calm, we could figure out a solution, but I can´t tell the same of my father and my brother because they were too nervious and desperate to find any solution. As a result of this, you have to keep in you mind that is very important to keep the calm in this situation to fix the problem and to avoid any thing.

As I told you at the beginning, if you go to any party, you have to be careful, you have to be responsible about yourself, don´t drink a lot because the thieves notice that you are not paying attention in any thing and take advantage of the opportunity to steal your things, so if you don´t want that somebody steals your things, as in the case of my brother, don´t loose the control about yourself and be responsible. It is very important to mention that you have to select better your friends when you go out because sometimes they are not your friends and they are not interested in any thing that happen to you.

Another very important point that I have to say, is that the theft of my brother´s car occured amid an awful noisy, what is usual in a party, but it helped the thief to steal his car, so it is important to mention that you have to be with your eyes open when you go to any party or anywhere to avoid any lamentation.

In conclusion, I have to say if you are going to go to any party during this week or wherever, you have to be responsible about yourself and pay attention to what is happening in any party or in any place where you are, because in this way you can avoid a lot of things. Moreover, if this situation happens in your life, you have to keep the calm to find a solution. In addition to that you have to select better your friends because sometimes they are not your friends.

Women's role has changed

I went to my aunt’s house in the beach for summer. I was alone with her, so I felt very bored and while I was arguing with me how could be in summer like that when suddenly a big box full of books fell down on me from a shelf. At the beginning it was quite unpleasant; I fell down too, but when I saw some scattered books, one caught my attention, it was if I would find a beautiful treasure, it had this typical antique smell of things that were used for several times and had been forgotten by time.

My aunt –the owner of the box of old books- said to me: “Read it! It’s a wonderful novel set in the 20th century; you will be surprised”, then I said to her: “Thanks! I love novels, more if it’s a Chilean author”. So, I took with me and soon I was very eager to begin for reading it.

As my aunt said, I had an unexpected impression, because I felt a great connection for the book; the life of my ascendant has many similarities with it, I could know and how they lived, but when I got deep into the book, my own life in certain way, took a character inside of the book: she was Clara Del Valle.

While I read and read more, I got some new ideas how my family lived, but more about women of my family, because of Clara, with who I felt an attraction, besides that she represents some aspects of the woman in these days, especially to my grandmother . So, when I read a new page of the book, I could learn even more of my family, also about me.

Clara Del Valle lived in a century where women occupied another role in the world; a patriarchal structure, she had to be in house, raising children, preparing all the meals, were the basis of their family role, as the women of my family in that time had to do. And while I was growing up, several times I saw my grandmother doing the housework, preparing biscuits and cakes, and I could want to be like her.

Despite of that, there were some differences between them. While Clara lived in the city, my grandmother lived in the countryside; therefore Clara had more contact with other people than just with the family as my grandmother had, and also could know some things before than a countryside girl. On the other hand, Clara belonged from an upper social class -so she had much more facilities and royalties- , and my grandmother from an intermediate social class; the family lived in a tranquility and traditional way of life, where the things were no so expensive, no so cheaper.

But if you see, these women had a lot of in common; they were living in a closed world of men, in certain way all the differences or similarities can change how they had to keep their fears and dreams, and by time -though slowly- they have opened many doors for themselves and moreover for us.

All of this stuff made me think about how much has changed the women’s role through the time in many aspects; they have to go out and work for getting better incomes for their family as a result of the world’s development. Moreover, family structure have passed from patriarchal structure into a dual structure, and finally children stay most of the time lonely. This reminds me all the women’s efforts done by themselves and all the advances achieved.

Firstly, women have had to go out and work for getting better incomes for their family, because of the world’s development and also for the economic situation during the last century. Besides women had to fight –no literally- against the men, trying to have a place in the business world, although even nowadays women receive much less money than men. But how we never give up, we go for working against the difficulties, such as the machismo, where men think that women can’t do things “of men”, how to drive a truck –in fact anything that has wheels-, to manage a business or simply to study at the university (in older times, I hope…).

Secondly, family structure have suffered a big change, from being a patriarchal structure evolving into a dual structure, where the woman and the man share the same tasks related to the family: housework, bills, etc. Some men refuse to accept it, but others –with an open mind- assume the change and they see it as a positive point of view and help us to develop our interests, jobs or even take a broom and sweep the floor. There aren´t any older families with a patriarchal structure, anymore they are part of the past, because I can see in my own family, my parents share bills, housework and in my case raising and enjoy grandsons.

Finally, as a terrible consequence, children pass most of the time alone. Women have to decide between going to work or not, but almost always there is no option; they have to. However, children try to figure out for themselves, and seems like in the majority of the cases lots of them are more independent. This is something very important nowadays, but this had transformed into an individual way of life, where the television and computer are their best friends. They have to learn many things alone, and they eat alone, they are living like an adult.

In conclusion, women have changed in many aspects, for good or bad. It has been a long and hard road to get space in this patriarchal structure. Lots of them have suffered much more than others; they have built the road for us, making a little easier our job in this world. Tomorrow I will be an English teacher, and I’m going to develop me in all the aspects, as much as I can, for opening more doors for other women’s future.

A route to a dental practice.

The dentist`s secretary called me to remind me of the appointment. I reserved for next Monday at eleven o´clock. I heard the voice on the other office asking for Natalia and I replied. “This is she”. “I`ll be there on time”. That day, I entered the modern eight floor building located on Linares main street, and I walked to the elevator and pushed the up button and nervously waited. The elevator promply arrived and got in. I pushed the third floor button. Once on the third floor, I exited the elevator.Promply, I smelt the characteristic and aromatic smell of my father´s dental office. As soon as I arrived I opened the outer door, and a cool air hit me in the face. I was greeted by Erika his brown haired secretary who told me that I had to wait because the doctor was busy. It was exactly in that moment that I remembered an indelible memory of my father and his first office. When I was a little girl, I ran to sit in the dental chair preventing my father´s patients to sit down in the dental chair. It was very funny for me and some patients saw this as a funny action. My father´s office was one block from Linare´s square. When I left the office , my father took me for a ride around the square during summer time and bought me an ice-cream. This is an old remind of my chilhood. It was a long time ago that those events happened and I returned to reality again. While I was waiting my turn, I got a magazine where I found a story about a thief who lost his denture in a place where he entered to steal. The police sent the denture to the police laboratory and they discovered that the thief was a relative of the house`s owner. To be precise his nephew. I was deeply thinking about the story when the dental assistant called me and I started a new story in the dental chair.

While my father worked he told me he studied six years in the faculty of dentistry. He told me he was interested in the area of biology. He did a lot of biology readings when he was a high-school student at Rome Free Academy in New York state. In this way, his interest was an early great impulse in that direction. There were others reasons why my father decided to study dentistry.

One of the main reasons that contributed in his choice was weather conditions. When my father was a college student, he had to decide between Santiago and Concepcion. He chose to study in Santiago because his P.A.A was of a very good score, and the capital was on his mind long time ago. Weather conditions in Santiago were more acceptable to his health than Concepcion. At that time it was easier to go to Santiago than Concepcion, even by train. Travelling by train was faster and more comfortable.

There is other possible cause, when he attended high-school at Rome Free Academy in New York state, he received a special invitation to attend lectures given by a scientific biology department of New York university. All this helped him to enter university of Chile at dental school where he was accepted.

The third reason my father wanted to be his own employeer. He said as a liberal professional, he could manage his free time. He loves to play soccer, swimming, and ride on a bike... free time is very important.

Most dentists are only practitioner, meaning that they own buy bussinesses, and work alone with a small staff. He had to study about three more years to become a specialist.

Suddenly, the little wheel whizzed around like a buzz saw. Between the sound and the terror of that moment, I had a relevant question that have characterized people day after day, year after year... to be more precise all their lives in all human history. Why don`t people attend dental offices?

People don´t enjoy spending their time to go to the dentist. Maybe the answer could be found in the memory we have of the noisy equipment the dentist used and we associated with scary situations but today`s modern dentistry is founded in comfortable modern equipment and new technologies. There are three main contrasts or differences between today´s and yesterday`s technologies in dentistry world. But people don`t know that the possibilities of getting a perfect smile are related with modern technologies. As we know, today healthcare is possible because technological advance with various modern instruments like x- rays preventing gum disease, loose teeth, and helps on the exact diagnosis that wasn´t possible thirty years ago. Secondly, healthcare in modern times is very different from ancient times because it still has to deal with the same diseases. The philosophy is very different; what has changed the technology allowing the dentist to make because new smiles. A third important aspect, in the past the general dentists had to deal with all diseases affecting the mouth, but today all dentists have to take courses to improve in all dental areas.

I have never thought to have an enjoyable time in a dentist´s chair. It was really interesting to enter the hidden world of the dentists.

All the time my father says that modern dentistry is better because new technologies; new materials, and great advances in science. Every five years dentist has to renew his knowledge, and training in new technologies.

As a dentist my father feels he is working in a complex field of health that gives him great satisfactions. It is very important for him to build a beautiful smile to recover self confidence in a great number of people making them to feel good, and useful in society. My father helps people in dental emergencies and feel better in a psychology aspect. He feels a great satisfaction, because he helps a lot of people suffering because they have lost their teeth when they were young, and they can show a beautiful smile, after receiving their treatment.

I stayed a long time listening to about this wonderful world of modern dentistry. By the end of this dental session, I fell asleep...my father left the office and his secretary gently woke me up to reality...

The cyber life of an ordinary girl called Tamara

First of all I want to introduce to you a girl who I met , her name is Tamara she is an ordinary teenager, as any common one. Tamara is a shy girl, who loves going on the internet every single day, and today is not the exception.
Tuesday, 4 p.m Tamara entered silently to her mom`s bedroom when she was lying in bed trying to take a nap.Tamara touched her arm and said: Mom, mom could you lend me some money please?. Oh tamara what do you need the money for don’t you see that I’m trying to sleep”.” I know tamara said”, but I need to go to the cyber to do my history homework,it is urgent ” okey but, if you want to go to the cyber you must tidy your room, why? Tamara asked, and her mom answered because I said so. Okey , okey I will, Tamara went to tidy her bedroom, and in effect she has a messy. Fifteen minutes later Tamara entered to her mom’s bedroom again, and said I have finished. That`s good, now you can go to the cyber, here you go, and please arrive home early and remember not chat with strangers .”okey mom I will take care and see you later”.
Tamara left the house and her mother couldn`t take her nap because she was worried.

Tamara entered to the cyber and use the same computer as always, but if you think that she is doing her homework you are completely wrong, because; she is chatting . Tamara is a shy girl and is not talkative at all. I work at church as a youth leader, therefore I have spent a lot of time with her not only at church but chatting to her on msn, in which she is talkative, this is why it is important to metion the different behaviors that she has at church and when she is in the cyber. As I mentioned before Tamara at church is not talkative, in other words, she is very shy, and it`s difficult to keep a conversation to her, because when you talk to her, she always smiles and says isolated words such; as yes or no, maybe, I dont know etc... On the contrary to her behaviour on msn, she always starts to talk to me, and if I don’t answer immediately she starts to insist on talking, she always says hello, how are you doing?, how was your day? What are you doing, ANSWER to me!. Sometimes I get dizzy, because she talks to me a lot, I mean I want to say stop talking for a while. I already have talked with some of her friends and they are impressed about her behavior on the internet and they say: we can’t belive it she is like another girl. In fact , they have the reason because her personality changes a lot on msn, because everybody in the real world knows about her shyness, but on Internet there are people that don't know anything about it.

For those reasons, it is important to know how important these cyber friends in Tamara`s world are . When I have talked to Tamara she has told me that she hasn’t got many friends at high school; she feels excluded by her peers, because she is not as attractive and outgoing as her classmates. Teenagers are always trying to define and redefine themselves in relationship to others, and they do not want to be associated with anyone having unacceptable or unattractive characteristics. They try to strengthen their own identities by excluding those who are not like themselves, this is why Tamara finds refuge on the internet staying away from the real world because is in that place nobody knows anything about her personally, and nobody can judges her because of her appearance and her shyness, the internet is the place where she feels secure and more comfortable, furthermore she feels accepted by others, but she doesn’t have to forget that she lives in a real world.

As a matter of fact, Tamara has a confusion between the fiction and the reality because she thinks that she is only accepted and listened by others on msn, and maybe something like that can not occur in the real world , this is why she
spends hours huddled over a computer, there is a good chance you have something to worry about — internet addiction, that means an excessive computer use that interferes with daily life. when i asked Tamara what is she doing on the internet, she always answers me” i’m chatting”, instead of searching for the information for her homework, because it is supposed that this is the reason why she goes to the cyber everyday.Being addicted to the internet is a result of a feeling of loneliness , because many teenagers spend most of their day alone in their homes connected to the internet, while their parents are working. In this case Tamara is not the exception, because her mother works hard all day long, and Tamara after high school stays with her grandmother and that is the time that she takes to go on the internet for satisfying her feelings of loneliness sharing and chatting with her cyber friends in the world wide web.

It is important to mention that for Tamara being on the internet and cyber friends are very important, but they don’t know that they are exposed to people that may have bad intentions ,This is despite the fact that a chat room is anonymous, and all the weaknesses of human beings can be played out inside it without any restrictions, including psychopaths. Some months ago my cousin and a friend of her were chatting on msn, when a man started to talk to them , that man started to tell them things that cannot be reproduced, when my aunt walked into the living room and heard about that conversation, she got angry with my cousin and her friend and punished them, my cousin`s friend was the guilty one, and it wasn`t the first time that she had been exposed to that kind of conversations. This is a practice widely used today by psychopaths, who are masquerading as teenagers trying to catch their attention with a hidden intentions Thank God that Tamara has not gone through this situation but but she will have to be alert and before any sign of a stranger must talk with her parents and remove the contact from her list.

Nowadays we are living in a technological world, in which we are connected with people all over the world with only one click, and that affect especially teenagers, who often spend hours and hours in front of computer. The Internet is very important for tamara`s life because this is the place, in which she is accepted by her cyber friends in the world wide web, but at the same time is a problem because she lives in a real world and she has not realised that there are people who love her the way she is.

Now is 6:00 P.m the session on the cyber has finished, Tamara has to go home, now is the real world in front of her, that world that she has to face over and over again at the same hour of the day, and now she is expecting the following day in which her life has sense at 4:00 P.M.

Origin dances and actual interests

My connection with music and dance began approximately 13 years ago, when my parents motivated me to introduce in this surprising world, probably they saw some reaction in me when I listened music related to my country, so they convinced me to enter in a folk group called “Tradiciones” where I learnt almost all typical dances of Chile: cueca, tirana, pascuense, etc. My feeling for this passion began to grow when I started to present my dances in shows to a big number of people, and they thanked it with big applauses, in that precise moment, when the crowed seemed to be as exited as me, was when I realized that I had a beautiful talent and that I ought go for more; so that I began to compete in championships related to our traditional dance, cueca and the surprise was bigger when I began to win almost all the champions. But it wasn´t so important for me, the essential meaning was settled in my soul and in my mind, the thoughts that pass through them sometimes are undescriptive, the previous minutes to be presented to the public were surrounded of anxieties, when I was dancing nothing else there was in my soul that love for that I was doing, I felt that my heart beats were faster and harder and all the passion that I ever felt was borning in that moment. But while more emotions were being discovered in me, more cultures I wanted to explore with the only reason to get to people different cultures and to motivate children and young to know this amazing world; so that with the pass of the time I felt that to win championships wasn´t enough, so I looked for dances that made me feel really connected and satisfied with the dance; and I found that Latin American and African dances had special movements and extraordinary meanings that makes me feel that I was in an undescriptive atmosphere. The sensation of exploring these cultures and dances were similar to living a fantasy for me; because they are very separated on the planet, but very similar at the same time, because in both cases the dancer feels connected with their origins and root, and the observer feel so excited appreciating their culture and movements surrounded of happiness, attractive colors, and sensations. The most important point is that the dances and the moving of the body is a health way of expression.

Despite of that they seem to be very different, Latin American and African dances are closely connected by their origins and the passion that they express.
Most of the Latin ones, like; Samba, Rumba, mambo, Cha Cha Cha, and salsa decsend from African Movements or dances that have been modified troughout time. Rumba, for example came from African slaves.Cha Cha Cha contains a fast and cheerful mood with a bit of a religious dance of the West Africa, and Samba come from an African couples dance, originated from Angola and Congo. All the origins, moods, purpose, and themes are shown in each and every one of those dances, from the emotions to the way their hips move. The Rumba influence was given by the African slaves and the middle and high class of the Cubans. The native Rumba folk dance is based on sexual vibes between partners with exaggerated hip movements, and a sensual aggressive attitude on the part of the man and a defensive attitude on the part of the women.
On the other hand, these dances are different in their meanings; Most of the Latin American dances represent the conquest of the partner, sensual movement, and are always danced in couple. The African people dance in a circle and it has a great meaning; it represents life and how it keeps moving as in a circle, the dance here is rhythmic, they don´t dance with out drums because it symbolized the heart beats, express the mood of the people, the drum is the sign of life, it evoke emotions and to touch the souls of those who hear its rhythm. The movements also imitate animals in realistic details, and all parts of the body are moving to different drums beats and in different rhythm at the same time.
Nowadays, far from native cultures such as Latin-American or African dances, our actual society and new generations are drifting away from our origins. As part of the society these new urban cultures are leaving more than an effect in our youth, even though we don´t want to believe it. Bring it to the Chilean reality our cultural origins are quickly disappearing and soon will not exist.
The actual teenagers and youth are being bombarded by new trends from different countries. Between the age of thirteen and eighteen years old it´s very common that people are in search of an identity and a personal style with which they want to express that they are different. Actually, our country has a lot of different styles settled in our teenagers, such as “pokemon”, “flaite”, or “reggaetonero”. This last urban style came from Latin American rhythm and sound, influenced by salsa and meringue. This style is established in our youth and the main message that this has is to express the emotions in an explosive manner, in which the couple when dancing are constantly touching their bodies, kissing and most of time it is danced by a woman and two men. This message is changing the value of the family and relationships: the youth are expressing their feeling, emotions and impulses in an unlimited manner in which they don´t give importance to love, respect and dignity.
To be part of one of the urban styles could make to a young have an obsession for his or her style. It could disturb their studies, separate them from their families, just wanting to be with their music and the group of friends. It could cause problems with the relationships that they have, principally in their families, losing confidence and communication.
New generations are becoming intolerant with groups different from them. It is becoming a big problem because nowadays we have seen that teenagers have come to use violence, fight, and even kill with the only reason that they have a different taste for music or styles. This attitude is escaping from our hand because the parents aren´t giving enough value to the family, nor they are giving enough time to be with them teaching the meaning of life and tolerance. This generation is being cough by the routine of a lot of hours working, technology, money; and the family is being replaced for these possessions thinking that they are essential to be alive.
Clearly we have some problems to resolve; first of all we are losing our cultural root and thus to our families. If we keep up our traditions and roots and transmit them to new generations, undoubtedly they could have a different manner to see the life, the respect and tolerance to the people, and value in the relationships.
Even most of people don´t want to believe in culture, I am sure that it can change the life, the mind and behavior of the community; it helps us to value our roots and our origins, also to price the family, the relationships that we have and emphasize the respect for the partners. Although our routine is each day faster, we even have time to give to our family necessary time to communicate and to transmit the origins of our country that clearly the atmosphere that it generates in the life is healthy and beneficiary for our environment.

Stress in workplace

There are many things in our lives that we have to do, but may be we don’t want to. In my personal life when I finished high school my dream was to follow my studies at the university, but my parents couldn’t pay it, so I have to look for a job to save some money for my studies. In this time to get a job is difficult, but in my case was very easy because in just one month I was already working as a shop assistant in Paris that is a well known shop. The first months I only worked on weekends, but one day my boss made me an offer, and it was to become an integral shop assistant. It meant working five days of the week and acquiring more responsibilities.I needed to work, so I accepted the opportunity. I liked this job and enjoyed of my labors. The first year was good; I learnt many things and met interesting and different kind of people. But with the passing of the time I started to feel bad and a little tired. The labor climate was bad and very competitive. I didn’t feel comfortable working there. My boss asked too much, and I tried to obey with all duties, but I couldn’t.

My plan was to work just one year and save maximum of money, but it wasn’t possible I was working in the shop two years. The problems of each day became unsustainable, and I started to feel frustrated because I wanted to study. I preferred to acquire to a student’s duties than the worker’s ones.

This entire situation provoked in me a deep feeling of disappointment and sadness. Each morning was more difficult to get up and I started to hate my job and all it meant. At night I didn’t sleep well my mind and body didn’t rest. While I was sleeping I felt as if were working because my brain repeated the actions that I had done during the day. Sometimes I dreamt about attending unpleasant and indecisive customer. I think that all this dissatisfaction was the cause of my stress and I am sure that many workers nowadays are victims of this illness.

I believed that a worker’s life is more stressful than a student’s one. It is because of one of the most common action that we usually do by obligation is working and it is the reason why there are many people suffering stress. Meanwhile, when we decide to study in the university all is different from the motivations to the objectives. Maybe both ways need dedication and effort, and worker’s life and student’s life have responsibilities, but to some people one is harder than the other.

When you are working or studying you have to accomplish with duties. Every business, for example, has its own internal rules and authorities, so the worker has to apply to this demand. When I worked I had to sell a definitive quantity of products, and answer to the demands of my bosses and customers. The same occurs with my student life today. I should be responsible with my duties and I am in constant evaluations from my teachers. I like it because I enjoy studying, but I didn’t enjoy working as a shop- assistant.

Despite of the similarity, there are also important differences; worker’s life is more related to stress. It is because the most of people work under pressure or in a bad work environment. Also people work by necessity; many times they are obligated to accept jobs that they may never have done or not have experience. I had never worked, so I didn’t have experience, but I needed the money and I had to accept. Therefore, it shows that the labor life is surrounded of factors that cause stress in people.

However, studying a university career is a personal decision. It implies that there is a different motivation and objectives. For a worker his goal is only monetary or social recognition while a student is concentrated in acquiring knowledge for a personal satisfaction or for in the future can work in something that he feels satisfaction and motivation.

We know that all people have responsibilities of different kind. Workers and students have to confront difficulties every day and the solution of it will depend of your necessities and the motivation that you have, but we have to be careful if these troubles attack more of normal our lives because if it is so we are in the face of other big problem that is the fearsome stress. It is proved that this illness is presented more in workplace than in the universities.

Since 1990 the studies have demonstrated that there are few working environments that are immune from stress. That illness is advancing rapidly becoming one of the most common among workers. There are many causes that help this problem advance each day more among employees.

The principal cause of this common nervous illness is the excess of working hours. Many employers don’t measure the quantity of work that their workers are able to do in a specific time. It is because of understaffing; As a result of that, an employee needs extra time working long hours, and not only for a few days. He passes many weeks or sometimes months working extra time.

Besides of excessive working hours many people have to support bad working conditions. Some jobs needs a competitive personal and it causes a labor climate complicated.

And in other cases the workers doesn’t count with necessary equipment. That doesn’t permit them to realize their job well and sometimes taking risk their lives. There are many kinds of job that need safety equipment but don’t have it, so those jobs are insecure.

Finally, when the relationship between employers and employees is cold and distant the communication between them is difficult, and hinders the solving of problems and taking decisions. This due to some companies having a poor organization in the structure of workplace. Is important that each worker clearly knows who his direct boss is; this avoids produce confusion and extra pressures to him.

In conclusion, every workplace presents its own problems in different ways, but it is important that these troubles don’t interfere with the labor of the workers, their lives and the relationship that they have with their managers and colleges. We should try as a whole that these causes of stress decrease in their effect in the daily labor of people. We have to try finding a motivation in everything that we do, and to find a solution for the problems at time with supporting of our colleagues, classmates, bosses or teachers. The clue is to add to our daily life the work team to make easy getting of our objectives in any area of life.

Chilean rodeo: A family Tradition

When I was a child my father carried me on to see the sport that he loves; it was Chilean Rodeo.
I remember when he was a rider and practiced all the evenings this sport with other friends I was sitting there waiting for him I was scared because I was thinking that my father could suffer some accident while he was riding a horse, but he was happy so that made me happy too. I could see in his face a smile of pleasure, and it remained me when he told me that he wanted to become a professional horse rider, so his dreamt was being realized. It made me feel proud of him.

My father had a favorite horse called “Olmo Viejo” it was beautiful with, brown eyes and his teeth were very big. I went up to him and I touched him; his skin was soft and comfortable. In that moment I felt a connection with animals, I mean especially with the horses at the same of my father.
However, with the time I learnt that there are different kinds of love of animals. There are people who dislike Chilean Rodeo and someone who like it. When my father entered to this sport he knew that there were some difficulties; some people were against chilean sport.
Those people think that in this sport horses and cows are mistreated, and it is an aggressive sport. They believe that this practice can become the animals violent. Nowadays they fight to find a solution and to stop this animal mistreated.

While the practices of this sport think that it is a way to enjoy of animals; it is the way to show to everybody that horse is a skilful animal and this activity don’t cause damage in it. The owner of these horses takes care and prepares them for the competition and to become the best.
Anyway, it is difficult to understand how people have different point of view of the Chilean Rodeo. However, there are similarities between this people, I mean, the love of animals.
My father in spite of those difficulties practiced this national sport which was his passion.

The rodeo is the second most popular sport in Chile. There are many people who practice Chilean rodeo. Most of the horse rider belongs to families where competing in rodeos is a way of life and a skill passed down from father to son so there are many factors that causes the motivation for this sport in some people.
One of the principal causes of this sport is that it is born of a family tradition. In the case of my family my grandfather was a famous rider when he was a young and agile man. He won many trophies when he competed. My father always looked at my grandfather while he was practicing this activity. That was the motivation for him becomes a horse rider. This shows that the most of sportsman practice this sport is by familiar tradition.

That is the reason why some horse rider wants to be as his father. In some cases they want to reach a dream that their ascendants didn’t get. The biggest dream of a rider is to compete in the Chilean championship. In this place are the best horse riders of the country.
On the other hand is commitment with the family, in the case of my father when my grandfather died, my father promises him that he would be the best rider in the family history.

After of all, this sport has been kept on thanks of love that some people have of animals and also by this sport, it is interesting how people of the same country and the same culture have different point of view by the same tradition.
The Chilean Rodeo tries to keep on in the time in spite of this sport is not being valued by society in this time.

A man who lives as a hobo

Last summer I went to Pichilemu beach for my holidays; I was staying there with some friends and every night we went to the beach to sing beautiful songs or to drink a beer, but one night something different happenned. We were on the shore around the bonfire singing and just when I raised my face, there was a man a few feet behind me who was watching us. As soon as I looked at him he started to walk toward us and began to talk to us.

After a while I looked at him and his appearance was stranger, he was bony, with yellow teeth and long and dirty hair. He was bearded, thin and tall and he seemed to be ill because his voice was calm. He was wearing shorts, a t-shirt and he just had a sleeping bag tied to his waist. Suddenly he asked me for a cigarette, but I refused to give it to him because I really wanted him to leave us quickly. But my friends invited him to stay with us around the bonfire and he sat next to me. At the beginning, I was nervous and scared because of his appearance, but after a while I felt more comfortable with the new guy.

The man never said his name; he just began to tell stories about his exciting and vertiginous life. He told us about his travel from Arica to Punta Arenas knowing new people, new places, new cultures and the Chilean history and how he had realized every trip without money. In that moment I realized that he lived as a hobo.

Everything that he said was listened to carefully by each member of my group. He was telling us how he managed to eat, sleep and have fun every day, and everything seemed so much easier for him without responsibilities, a job, duties, etc. Those stories were amusing and interesting, but also those stories were reflected in the deterioration of his body and life because he had neglected himself because of this trips.
After a while, I started to think about the similarities and differences of my life and his life and about the different ways to assume or live the life. My life is absolutely different to his life. We could have had similar characteristics but we were totally different.

We had a lot of things in common, the same age, and we enjoyed having fun with friends. We were talking a lot about topics that we were interested in and we liked the same football team and the most important thing was that we wanted to realize our dreams.

On the other hand, we had a lot of differences; we didn’t have the same ideals for life, for example, I wanted to finish my course , work a lot and after that travel to England to study again, while he didn’t care about anything, he didn’t study or work and nothing was important for him.
By Paola Inostroza
Apart from our differences we were able to accept each other and respect different points of view. I don’t know why he was that way, maybe he hadn’t had parents who worried about him or he hadn’t had anything important through his life; It coul have been a lot of causes, but the most interest to me are the effects that this behaviour has, because I think that it mustn’t be easy to live as a hobo.

The main effect is that this men had lived without caring about anything during his whole life. He didn’t have family, neither obligations nor possessions; due to this, he was completely “free” and all this freedom caused that he had a lot of time to have fun with the new friends that he met every day. However, at the same time, he was alone, without love and without support. Sometimes his sense of freedom was related to a loss of control and this attitude had brought him many troubles with the police in several times.

Also, he didn’t have a place to sleep, and because of this, he has exposed himself to many dangers like crime, extreme weather, illness etc. Beside, he had neither help insurance nor income, so he depended directly on other’s people goodwill to satisfy all his needs such as food, drink, shelter etc. In several ocassions he has had to beg for money and he has asked for help to travel to another place. However, he didn’t care about the money and he was happy traveling and hitchhiking around the country, visiting different places and knowing a lot of different people and culture.

Certainly, he was alone and he just shared with people for a couple or hours because he is continually looking for something that he really didn’t know but he called it “Freedom”. By the time he had become drunk without thinking about anything else, he lived the present without prospect to the future.

In conclusion, that man made me realize that we can have different thoughts, different lifestyles and different ways to assume the life. But thinking about this man, beyond his smile there was reflected a solitary and hard life and the effects were evident. Maybe the next summer I’ll know somebody different who has a lot of more stories to tell but this person made me feel that I had chosen the best option and I am very happy to have decided to study and have a better future for me and my future family.

Basketballer

It was a cold morning and rain poured heavily. However, I went to basketball practice early in the morning, as I usually used to, and surprisingly the practice was canceled. The reason was damage in the ceiling of the gym, and the coach didn’t want to have any injured player. Instead of returning home, I stayed with two team-mates and played one-on-on until I slipped on a water-puddle and injured my knee. And that’s how I started to suffer constant knee pains. Moreover, I started to smoke and that gradually decreased my stamina and breathing capacity.

When I could stand up normally, I realized that my knee had something wrong. I couldn’t either jump or walk normally and the pain was horrible, unbearable and pungent. Afterwards, I had to walk all the way back to my house. I cursed the puddle of water that made me slipped all day long. But, despite all the pain I suffered, I continued playing during the week. The next weekend, I woke up and I tried to lift my knee, something normal for anybody, but I couldn’t. In that moment I said:”Dude, this is serious!!!” and I told mom and dad; they took me to the hospital and doctors discovered that I had my patellar tendon strained and a meniscus fissure. They forbid me to play basketball for a year, and I’ve never been the same player since that morning. About a year of therapy and six months of training took me to get in shape for the next season. But, the coach didn’t want to take risks with me, and he didn’t sign me up to be part of the team that year, even though I could train with the team in order to increase and recover my strength and skills.

High school ended for me and University was my destiny. At this point of my life, I slowed down my basketball playing due to the lack of leisure time and the fact that I didn’t know people who played here in Talca. Somehow, one day studying alone I realized that I was holding a cigarette, even worst, I was smoking it and when I tried to quit it, I couldn’t. Now, my knee injury interfered in a natural way with my game, and therefore decreased my performance at the court. On the other hand, by smoking I was decreasing my own pulmonary capacity and, at the same time, interfere with my normal game. And, what is the reason? There is no reason for smoking, some people do that to be socially accepted, and I don’t know why I smoke. Maybe one party night I bought a package of cigarettes and I decided to smoke unconsciously, and I really didn’t want to. Other reason could be that my parents and almost all my friends did it and I wanted to be like them, I don’t know. Whatever the reason was I keep doing it, less than at the beginning, and combined with my knee injury, basketball is a really torture for me rather than be an escape for fun and leisure in these stressful days of University.

When I watch television, most of time I watch ESPN; because I like NBA very much. Sometimes, I stare at Kobe Bryant’s plays and I wonder if he had, at some point of his life, been injured like me. Obviously, he wouldn’t have to bother about paying millionaire hospital bills, and spend money on physical therapists. A whole team would have been in charge of his recovery. Well, that’s not my case. The only team I had backing me up when I suffered my injury, was my family and my girlfriend. And my parents were the ones in charge of paying the doctor’s bill. In fact, mom and dad weren’t so happy when I slipped and wounded my knee, on the contrary they argued with me for not followed the coach orders. Now it is funny, but back then it wasn’t. Well it’s not funny today either, I still feel pain sometimes and I cannot play as I did when I was at High School but I try not to be depressed about that.

I can imagine what are you thinking now, “Oh, poor guy, he’s not able to play basketball anymore” Well no, actually I’ve kept playing, with the only difference that I do not play as often as I did 5 or 6 years ago. I tried to be active as much as my time allows me. I play once a week, on weekends, but I’ve really missed those marathons of basketball I used to play with my friends at High School, from 9 A.M. until 1 P.M., only a 1 hour break for lunch and from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M. those were our weekends, just sports. There wasn’t space for us in parties; we were sleeping at 9 P.M. after a Saturday full of basketball. Those were our days, we seized them, and those days, the golden basketball days, won’t come back. A life time experience, I’m glad that it was mine.

Depression in Young people

In this moment I’m moving from San Javier to Talca. That is my journey everyday in order to study. The bus is quite crowded and there are many faces of tiredness and fatigue, most of the people here is quite and in silence. The day has been very cloudy and definitely, there is no option to see the sun today. The bus driver is obviously… driving, but suddenly he makes a movement with his hand… he is trying to change the radio station into another one which is playing a very particular song to me because it is the song which made me feel depressed along time ago. In those times I was depressed, but I must confess that music was only one of the causes of my depression. There were many others like loneliness, stress, introvert personality, etc. When I looked for a cure to my depression I started to go to church, and there were many other young people like me, some of them had been depressed and some of them were still depressed but much better. For me it was sad but true to find that I was not the only one with this disease. Why that should be a sad true? If young people is synonym of “dreamer”
for everyone and despite of this it is very common to find many young people becoming
depressive and destroying their life.

First of all, problems are one of the main reasons of depression in young people. In my case problem used to make me feel sad, every area in my life was quite problematic. I had an accumulated stress of school, and my parents used to put a big pressure on me but I was not successful, so that was disappointed for me, I always did my best but marks never got better. If we look our society we will find that just a few number of students are successful, but the others are in the middle, I mean no good nor bad students, in the ordinary section, I was there. I feel ashamed when I remember myself coping on many tests, which was completely useless because I didn’t learn anything. Music was then a way to escape from reality, with music we may express our feelings, but to be honest, the kind of music that I used to listen to wasn’t the best, and the song that I mentioned before was in particular horribly gloomy, it was something like: “who cares what do you do? You will die anyway” this idea crashed into my head all day long and made me feel completely non sense. The lyrics must be analyzed for us the young people, some adults say that the youth must only study, that we are only learners but that is not true. We are more dreamers than any other thing and that’s why we study and do everything. We like to think that problems are smaller than us because we have hope in tomorrow, and our dreams are most of the time influenced by the music that we listened to.

On the other hand ,depression brings about many other effects in young people. In my case it brought a strong unsocial behavior, I started to leave my girlfriend aside, so she finished our relation, yes, the same depression made me close any kind of contact and communication with the people around me and she wasn’t the exception, so from a loneliness I jumped into a completely isolation. Then I began to think about our happy moments, when I hugged her, kissed her and said her how much I loved her, but then she was not. A mix of guiltiness and melancholic feelings were hurting me. That was not all, the disease causes headaches, maybe because of think too much and the consequent fatigue of the brain. There was also a lack of appetite and this is very common in depressive people, they don’t feel hungry so they lose weight. I still remember the face of my mother when I left the plate full of meals untouched
before being cooking in the kitchen during all the morning. Being depressed due to the break up of a relationship, problems and accumulated stress make the person can not concentrate in his/her family and of course in the friend circle. So the family members and friend may feel bad. Communication here is very important and the attention of the people who live around the depressed person.

In conclusion, depression is everywhere and in any age and our youth is not the exception. They are not untouchables or immunes. If you have a friend who is having this kind of aptitudes don’t get rid of him, even if he says that he doesn’t need any help or is a bit impatient, he really needs to feel that the others are there giving him affection and attention. It is said that depression is the disease of this century. Now that I’m about to drop of the bus I feel that I am safe and healed, I am free. Those times have been left behind. But it was because I’ve found a being who was there to cheer me up, to make me feel loved, and to listened to me.

Memories

It`s five o’clock in the afternoon, and I look at the sky because It’s getting dark due to the clouds, which announce it’s going to rain soon in our city. I hope so.

As a result of this event, I stay at home because it’s too cold either outside or inside, besides I’ve got a sore throat, so what I want is to be near the fire and if it’s possible, to rest in my favourite sofa, so when I begin to move it, I come across a toy of my grandson. It’s a train! Immediately my memories come to my mind, when I went to Constitución in that old train, in order to spend one day of our vacations. Of course in those times my mother carried coal, to be more precise, she cooked on the beach. Cooking with coal on the beach was a very different experience from today, and also it had some remarkable effects.

Forty two years ago, there was only one train that traveled in the morning to Constitución. Therefore all the families wanted to go there, but you couldn’t book seats like nowadays, you had to get up early; you had to go to train station and get some seats and put your bag gage on them, so people knew that they were taken. If not you had to be standing during the trip. Today most of the people can travel by car; otherwise there are many means of transport to go. Everywhere apart from that in my time, people ate during the journey because the train took a long time to travel from Talca to Constitución, and all the mothers carried boiled eggs, coffee, bread, in some cases, they cut tomatoes, and we, the children began to eat. Oh, I also remember the train stopped in “Gonzalez Bastías” which it’s a cottage between Talca and” Conti”, there we could buy “tortillas” for the rest of the day. As well, I remember the air inside the train, you could smell food everywhere, and some people carried live chickens in order to kill them on the beach, while others carried dead chicken ready to be cooked. Nowadays, none of that exists, in fact, most young people can feel embarrassed by those situations, however for us it was the most common .Finally, I can say that the landscape was beautiful. I looked through the window of the train at all the hills and beautiful trees, they were more natural than now, their green colors were really powerful.

My mother carried coal and a grill so that she had to cook on the beach, while we enjoyed swimming, but there were some problems due to that fact, for instance; the strong winds that arose, made sand get into the food, however it still tasted good, and another experience related to that issue, it was that we couldn’t run on the beach, I mean most of the families had their own burning coal everywhere. Otherwise, it was delightful to warm our hands on the coal after swimming in the sea, and when the day was getting dark, coal had the mission to protect us from the cold.

What a lovely memory! I can’t imagine that a simple toy produced such sensation in my mind, and a little train made me remember part of my summer childhood, and now that time makes me homesick, my nice family on the beach, and we were really happy, I would like that the past stayed for ever. Because of this, I called my mother and told her what I’ve remembered, she laughed. After, I began to look for some pictures from that time, of course I found two. I’m going to buy some coal and I’ll prepare a roast meat in my yard and I´ll be inviting my family in order to talk about that experience of the past.

My favourite season: Autumn

When my classes at the university, in the evenings of autumn finish I walk by the Diagonal Street in Talca, and all my memories, feelings and emotions arise. When I walk by this street I feel the same that when I was a child and I returned from my elementary school to my house. These two places are totally different in the real life, but in my memories, they are almost the same.

When I was a child, my town was the best place to grow up because everything was nature and good feelings and everybody loves to everybody. I was a very good student and each morning I went to school with my sister and my best friend. When we returned home in the evening, especially in autumn, everything was magic. This magic moment started when I suddenly was surrounded by chocolate browns, fiery reds, and bright yellows. In the evenings my Old Street shined golden amber and the sky burned with brilliant reds and purples as the sunset. We saw the trees swaying from side to side from the wind. It crashed with our faces and sometimes it was so strong that we couldn’t breathe easily. Then, in the right corner of the street, behind a bus stop, there was a big eucalyptus tree. It was the biggest tree in my town and when we passed in front of it, we were very worried but, at the same time amazed. It was so marvellous! We looked at millions of dry leaves falling down from the tree top and we enjoyed this moment laying down on the leaves and then, kicking them up and listened their sounds.

Unfortunately, in the Diagonal Street I can’t lie down on the leaves but I still can kick them up and listen to their sounds. Also, the strong wind still crashes with my face and my emotions and memories arise.

On the other hand, my old street is more beautiful and had more amazing landscapes than Diagonal Street. When you are walking by Diagonal Street in peace and looking at the trees, sometimes it is very tedious that someone starts to touch the horn of the car or that someone or a policeman tells you things that you really don’t like to hear in this moment. In contrast with Diagonal Street, in my old street, the only things that you could see and hear were the trees and birds and sometimes some cars, but no more than that. People in my town were friendly, but in Talca, everybody is so individualistic and the most of the time, nobody knows anybody else.

It is interesting to see how the years of the season, especially autumn and places from different provinces can be similar and different at the same time. It is also so important to know that with a smell, or in this case, with brown and dry leaves falling down you can remember things that you believe dead.

As I said, I love autumn and some people agree. But also, I realize that this season carries many problems to many people in the entire world.

One consequence of autumn is the fallen leaves. You need to check the gutters to make sure they're free of leaves and debris. Don't forget to trim dead or overgrown tree limbs hanging over your house. All it takes is one storm to bring weak branches down and damage your roof. Also the fallen leaves make that dry leaves gather on the street. It is a big problem because you have to clean all of them and not only once but twice or more times.

Another consequence of autumn is that in this season it rains a lot. This produces a big flooding on the streets and people finish very wet and afterwards get sick. The rain also produces that the sewer is blocked due to millions of fallen leaves and sometimes you need a boat to be able of across the street, and many cars finish under the water and totally destroyed. Also houses are damaged by the water. The water leaves many people with his material things and houses useless.

The other consequence of autumn is that the weather in this season is always changing. Like it occurs every year in this season, people dress warmer. But sometimes the sun comes out and you feel warm but suddenly, after one hour it’s raining! And it’s very easy to get ill.

In conclusion, you can enjoy autumn if you prevent its consequences. I know it’s a little difficult but everyone can do it. You can prevent damage to your home, street and also your health from autumn. You need to remember that autumn is a very beautiful, romantic and mysterious season. It is really marvellous to walk by the street and to feel the wind in your hair or to kick the leaves up, it is fantastic! In fact, it only depends of you and your manner to see autumn.

Why have people been protesting?

Over the years, there have been causes why people have been protesting. In the past the government was more repressive than today and people didn’t use to express their desires and feelings. In our days there is a more democratic government than before, but there are other problems to resolve; education and make some changes in the laws. Nevertheless the citizenship has been protesting in different ways publicly and secretly since the world was created. Undoubtedly people who have been protesting have had an aim in common, a particular purpose that they expect to change. Have you ever participated in a protest? Would you like to know what you have to do in?

If you are organizing a protest firstly you have to pick a time and location because you need to find a better place to cause impact in the community. Also, you have to make your aim known; putting the word out trough emails, posters or flyers to friends, relatives or fellows, round up volunteers; persons who support you, organize speakers; and don’t forget to get the necessary equipment; you have to do a list of all the tools that you will need for example microphones, stands, video cameras and all that you need to make a successful manifestation.

However in the 80´it wasn’t as easy as today protesting. There are differences between the past and the present. Before protests were more secrecy and silence about how group convey. It was a time of bloodshed which was represented by the neo-liberal system. People only could express their thoughts and ideas through secret graffitis in the streets or secret codes in newspapers. But probably if they were found out protesting against the government, military personal could have killed them or they could have suffered tortures. On the contrary, in our times protests are more outspoken, we are immersed in a more democratic government and we can express our thoughts in relation to religious, politics, education and others.

In our days it’s not a problem launching into the streets to bring a message that you want be heard. It’s a reality people protesting. In 2006 students launched into the streets in a movement called “Penguin Movement”. Principally they wanted to modify the Organic Law of Education LOCE. This group was led by the secondary schools. The causes were mainly that students got bored of waiting for a better education. As a necessity to them they wanted to keep direct contact with the highest political representatives and they did. They expressed their requirements of change and the problems which were bothering Chilean students.

Not only education has been a cause why do people protest. In Chile the inefficiency of the Government annoys people. As you can see in the news, pharmacies stole a lot of money from the people and the government didn’t apply any satisfactory sanction. But this it wasn’t the first time, there were many other examples. Also The Justice system used to take a long time to give a resolution. Furthermore, it let unpunished companies and people who commit crimes, frauds, or sexual crimes. Sometimes when somebody is put in prison he or she stays too little time in jail. For these reasons people express their anger protesting who show us the little credibility that the Chilean Government has.

Another important cause in the past was repressive political and economic laws that characterized the government in the 80´. People felt censured, they could not vote because all political parties were banned, and also trade unions, the senate and traditional houses of the government disappeared. Moreover people suffered a lot of violence, because many people were killed. However people met secretly to express their dissatisfied and to find out a solution to end cruelty.

Actually people have protested in a little pacific way. However you can see there are many ways of protesting for example; picketing, marching, holding a vigil or sit ins. They have different features; some are more secrecy, public, pacific, revolutionary or only symbolic. Sometimes people choose one of them to bring their messages into the streets

In conclusion, it’s interesting to see the differences between the past and the present protests and how you can organize a protest. In our days people who protest are most aggressive than in the 80`. In these years the society were afraid of being punished because the repressive laws and they can’t express their desires and feelings publically. However people are protesting for but the same purpose; to make a deep change in education, government or laws.
