My favourite season: Autumn

When my classes at the university, in the evenings of autumn finish I walk by the Diagonal Street in Talca, and all my memories, feelings and emotions arise. When I walk by this street I feel the same that when I was a child and I returned from my elementary school to my house. These two places are totally different in the real life, but in my memories, they are almost the same.

When I was a child, my town was the best place to grow up because everything was nature and good feelings and everybody loves to everybody. I was a very good student and each morning I went to school with my sister and my best friend. When we returned home in the evening, especially in autumn, everything was magic. This magic moment started when I suddenly was surrounded by chocolate browns, fiery reds, and bright yellows. In the evenings my Old Street shined golden amber and the sky burned with brilliant reds and purples as the sunset. We saw the trees swaying from side to side from the wind. It crashed with our faces and sometimes it was so strong that we couldn’t breathe easily. Then, in the right corner of the street, behind a bus stop, there was a big eucalyptus tree. It was the biggest tree in my town and when we passed in front of it, we were very worried but, at the same time amazed. It was so marvellous! We looked at millions of dry leaves falling down from the tree top and we enjoyed this moment laying down on the leaves and then, kicking them up and listened their sounds.

Unfortunately, in the Diagonal Street I can’t lie down on the leaves but I still can kick them up and listen to their sounds. Also, the strong wind still crashes with my face and my emotions and memories arise.

On the other hand, my old street is more beautiful and had more amazing landscapes than Diagonal Street. When you are walking by Diagonal Street in peace and looking at the trees, sometimes it is very tedious that someone starts to touch the horn of the car or that someone or a policeman tells you things that you really don’t like to hear in this moment. In contrast with Diagonal Street, in my old street, the only things that you could see and hear were the trees and birds and sometimes some cars, but no more than that. People in my town were friendly, but in Talca, everybody is so individualistic and the most of the time, nobody knows anybody else.

It is interesting to see how the years of the season, especially autumn and places from different provinces can be similar and different at the same time. It is also so important to know that with a smell, or in this case, with brown and dry leaves falling down you can remember things that you believe dead.

As I said, I love autumn and some people agree. But also, I realize that this season carries many problems to many people in the entire world.

One consequence of autumn is the fallen leaves. You need to check the gutters to make sure they're free of leaves and debris. Don't forget to trim dead or overgrown tree limbs hanging over your house. All it takes is one storm to bring weak branches down and damage your roof. Also the fallen leaves make that dry leaves gather on the street. It is a big problem because you have to clean all of them and not only once but twice or more times.

Another consequence of autumn is that in this season it rains a lot. This produces a big flooding on the streets and people finish very wet and afterwards get sick. The rain also produces that the sewer is blocked due to millions of fallen leaves and sometimes you need a boat to be able of across the street, and many cars finish under the water and totally destroyed. Also houses are damaged by the water. The water leaves many people with his material things and houses useless.

The other consequence of autumn is that the weather in this season is always changing. Like it occurs every year in this season, people dress warmer. But sometimes the sun comes out and you feel warm but suddenly, after one hour it’s raining! And it’s very easy to get ill.

In conclusion, you can enjoy autumn if you prevent its consequences. I know it’s a little difficult but everyone can do it. You can prevent damage to your home, street and also your health from autumn. You need to remember that autumn is a very beautiful, romantic and mysterious season. It is really marvellous to walk by the street and to feel the wind in your hair or to kick the leaves up, it is fantastic! In fact, it only depends of you and your manner to see autumn.
